In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dr. Abbey Akinoshun Foundation (DAAF) launched the COVID-19 Neighbourhood Relief Scheme in Ibadan and Ikorodu. This initiative aimed to support the most vulnerable members of these communities, particularly older people and widows, who were disproportionately affected by the pandemic. The scheme involved the distribution of essential food items and cash donations to older people aged 70 and above, as well as to widows, ensuring they had the necessary resources to endure the difficult times. The relief items were distributed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis due to limited supplies, focusing on reaching those in urgent need. This effort underscored DAAF’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those most impacted by the crisis, embodying their motto: “Established to make a difference.”
